Young Emily was abandoned on the doorstep of a crackhouse in a Kroger shopping cart as a baby. She was found and tended for by a gentile hooker named la'chiquita.While holding the tiny newspaper-wrapped baby, la'chiquita made a vow that she would forever protect and care for Emily, until one day when, inevitably,Emily was traded for crack to an old man named Oppa.

Oppa was a self-proclaimed Vietnam veteran.Oppa tried to teach young Emily to be self-sufficient by teaching her how to shove Doritos and Colt 45 liquor under her shirt and run out of 7-11's. He filled her head with conspiracy theories about fort knox being a sanitation dump and the Vatican being run by extra terrestrial aliens.

Oppa had a gypsy girlfriend, and together the three of them traveled around the southern U.S. in a run down RV. One day while Emily was at a pentecostal tent revival foraging for food, Oppa fell asleep while smoking the gypsy's(Emily never knew her real name, both her and Oppa always called her 'the gypsy') hookah pipe. The hookah pipe caused the RV to catch on fire, resulting in the horrible firey death of both Oppa and the gypsy

After burying them in the desert, Emily began hitch hiking her way across the US.Jumping in one car to the next, never having a destination in sight other than just moving forward, trying to leave the pain of Oppa behind.
